At some point, the CVS and Walgreens type place will switch to being pure pharmacies. When I've seen branches in hospitals and the like, they will have some of the OTC meds and that's it aside from the prescription side. The convenience store method will be gone in time. Aside from being way overpriced, that will cut down on the riff raff crowd if they only offer OTC and prescriptions.

I agree CVS is over priced but they do send 35% off entire order coupons and 40% off one item coupons on the regular. My wife uses an insanely expensive shampoo so I stock up on it when I get these coupons. It becomes cheaper than any place online.

Doubtful.

Thanks to PBMs stand alone pharmacies are not profitable

CVS is one of the worst pharmacies around. They suck at what they are known for.
