The answer is not the politicians it’s litigation. Keep those photos of the dead redfish and reports handy. They will come in useful in time.

Got thisreply about my questioning about Holly Beach on Monday 9/18
The most resent study was 2012, the other 3 were 99, 01, 94. With one paper citing a few smaller studys with the most recent 2016 that they are making recommendations and decisions off of
If the Cameron beaches still aren’t cleaned up keep reporting it to WLF do they can make the companies come back and clean up their mess. It will take more than one week for nearly 850,000 fish to wash ashore.
Figured I’d ask why they don’t have turtle exclusion devises like trawlers while I was at it. Just another regulation they have avoided over the years.
“ Attached are the bycatch studies I previously mentioned and an estimate of bycatch produced by LDWF based on those data. In regards to turtle bycatch, there is an ongoing project through NOAA (LINK ) that puts observers on menhaden vessels from 2023 through 2027 for quantifying turtle interactions. I do not have any documentation regarding that work as it is ongoing, but previous work has also documented turtle and marine mammal interactions in that fishery.
The menhaden company has informed us that they were in the process of cleaning up those fish this weekend and those efforts may already have been completed.”
