The #Braves today returned RHP Jesse Chavez from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 60-day injured list, and designated LHP Lucas Luetge for assignment. Additionally, RHPs Nick Anderson, Daysbel Hernández and Collin McHugh tonight begin rehabilitation assignments with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Nice

Additionally, RHPs Nick Anderson,
Interesting. I wonder if it’s too late for him to get a couple appearances in before the playoffs to see if he’s ready to get big league hitters out.
All I really care about at this point is Ronnie getting to 40 and securing his MVP, Strider lowering his ERA enough to get back in the Cy Young race, figuring out the back end of the bullpen…
Oops

Did they just say his 50th hit to lead off a game this year? That’s unbelievable.

Atta Boy Ronnie
I honestly don’t care about any of this outside of the bullpen. I just want home field advantage throughout the postseason, if we pick up some individual awards along the way, awesome, but if Acuña were to go 0-for-the postseason and we still win the World Series, that’s all that matters.

We really need one of Murphy or TDA to get their head out of their arse at the plate

I think Murphy played better earlier this season when he was getting the majority of the playing time. It seems like basically splitting catching duties in the second half of the season has hurt them both, but especially Murphy. He can't get into any sort of rhythm playing every other day like this. Hopefully he gets most of the time behind the plate in the last few games before the playoffs start. Getting that ice cold bat going again would be a tremendous boost.

Strider's slider doesn't seem to have the same spin tonight.

That Realmuto at bat is a perfect snapshot of why Strider needs a consistent third pitch. Got him down 0-2 quickly and then ended up throwing 8 more pitches and giving up a double.

It’s worrisome that his changeup usage hasn’t increased throughout the season.

Fastball is sitting 98-99… we love to see it
Posted on 9/19/23 at 7:07 pm to Broski
Didn't he get an extra day of rest?
Posted on 9/19/23 at 7:09 pm to Broski
I think he’s probably not gonna try to force the changeup if he’s not too comfortable with it.
He said he did a lot of work on it this past offseason so I wouldn’t be surprised if he works on it even more this offseason and raises it’s usage rate to 11-12% in 2024

AN XBH FROM A CATCHER!!!!!!!

His OPS doesn’t reflect it, but it feels like Pillar always comes through

Strider is feeling himself right now

Spencer is dealing so far

This is the best Strider has looked in a long time. His last start was great because he got through 7 without his best stuff, but this is Strider at his best so far tonight.
Michael Lorenzen has gone from no hitter to bullpen arm in about a month for Philly.
