Yes and No

Lots of "black Irish" but the black comes from the retreating Spanish Armada who retreated North instead of South and had to circle Ireland in the process. While many ships and men were lost at sea, some washed ashore and "black Irish" were born into the bloodline.

If you watched the classic scene in "True Romance" keep in mind, the Celtic lands were occupied for many centuries by the Romans. If you came through Ellis Island in the peak years and you came from Southern Italy, do not be surprised to find your ancestors were labeled "Black" on their papers.

If you are Scottish, the Scotti Tribe got there from Ireland. Due to their clannish nature, odds are excellent you are NOT Spanish or Italian. Congrats on your translucent pale skin, bright orange hair, blue eyes, and a DNA based comfort in going commando in your underwear choices.
