The problem with most impeachments is that they are inherently political. Usually the target of the impeachment emerges in better shape than they went in.

Paxton may be sleazy and guilty as sin, I don't know, but he definitely ain't pure.... few politicians are. But the charges were somewhat convoluted and as such, something of a reach.

Also, reading over the alleged charges in the federal securities case, unless the paper trail can provide a smoking gun, it is a dog of a case. Plus you are talking about a process that is 8+ years in the making. The government should dismiss the charges because of the time that has been wasted.

Paxton played this just about as well as any defendant could.

How does a Collin County indictment end up in a Harris County court? I would love to hear paxtons thoughts on that.

Impeachment is a political process. So they’re all political.
