Nobody says, "Have a catch."

Still bugs me.

I always wished he had said "Hey, dad, you wanna throw?"

I watched this yesterday actually. My three year old son loves this movie. Which is odd to me because it's relatively boring from a three year old's perspective. But he asked me if we could watch it again yesterday and it's been a while since we have, so we did. He's entranced by it for the most part. I love it.

As for the OP, I always go back and forth about it. I kinda lean toward he doesn't realize that Ray is his son at first, because he's actually existing as that person (the young kid playing baseball with "his whole life in front of him" as Ray says). But then gradually he does recognize it and that's why he doesn't flinch when Ray calls him dad and asks to have a catch.

I agree that it makes the most sense if he does recognize that Ray is his son, especially the "Ease his pain" aspect of it. But then why would he introduce himself to Ray if he already knows who he is (and Ray does too)? And even Annie and the daughter know as well because Ray just told them before he walked onto the field.

My 7 year old son loves it, which I found odd as well

However, it’s TORTURE watching it with him He asks at least 1,000 questions through the movie trying to figure shite out

I remember seeing it around age 6 or 7 and thought it was kinda scary at the beginning. The corn fields and the whispering voice.
