Back when Archer/Hallman were coaching I knew we were bad and I accepted it. We didn't have the players/facilities/coaching to compete with Florida or Bama.

Now we have everything we need and that's what makes this season so disapointing. I thought we would lose three games, but not five. And the way we lost was just not acceptable.

If we are not in the top ten at the end of next season and competing for the SEC CG, that will be the most disappointing.

Anyone who knows anything about football knew we were going to struggle with our QB situation.

Not by a long shot. If you had to live through the 3-7-1 and 4-7 seasons of Stovall and Archer and the 2-9 season of Curley - you wouldn't think so.

not for me. i didn't think we were that good to being with after the loss of RP...admitted, i didn't think we were this bad, but i thought 2 losses was a great season, 3 was about average, 4 was a bad year and 5......well, pretty shitty

1998 was pretty disappointing to me

LSU was picked by just about everyone to win the west...coming off a indy bowl win, top 10 ranking at home vs UGA, then all downhill from there

We could have easily been 7-5 last year. Of course I got reemed every time I point this out on the rant.

I expected 2, MAYBE 3 loses, but 5?.....

VERY VERY Disappointing, especially coming off of a NC.

that's so hilarious. What are frinkin' 12 years old

My point is I always felt Miles is way overrated. He's good for 2 SEC losses a year. We won the NC by default last year. The only difference between 2005, '06, & '07 was how the rest of the teams in the SEC and the nation performed.

+1, and it dwarfs, I mean "little peoples" this year's disappointment by at least an order of magnitude (unless your memory only goes back one head coach).

Think about what you are saying, 2 MAYBE 3 losses. LSU averaged 3 losses under the previous guy. Miles lost 2 the first three seasons, and finished 5, 3 and 1. And you expected no worse than maybe 1 extra loss with freshmen QBs, new(or newly promoted anyway) Co-DCs, and untested corners?

I expected 4 losses, but I also expected the team to compete, improve and finish strong. Even with the hiccups last year, we finished with relatively strong showings in the SEC-CG and the big game, which was an ultimate prize.

And also, we still have to play a decent team in a bowl game, maybe 6? That's something about which I can join you in getting up in arms.

I remember a meltdown at the end of one of Dinardo's seasons; maybe 1998? People on other forums were talking NC and when it didn't happen...

If disappointment is defined by the difference between expectations and reality, this one ranks right up there with some of "dark ages" seasons especially under Archer and DiNardo. For me not so much under Hallman as I don't recall ever feeling too optimistic with him as HC.
