No, not to the level it would go if he got the All NBA team 35% max.

My bad. I thought they could just add an escalated clause contingent on him reaching certain benchmarks. So he was just angling for an additional guaranteed year.

My fear is he has a good to great year (statistically) and he wants a full max/max. Like Jaylen Brown's, 5Y/300M+ deal. I don't think we should do that. So we'd have to trade him. But what can you get for an expiring semi-star level player?

If he hits the benchmark, he's eligible to get 35% of the cap. If he does not, he can get 30%.

Only if he hits the benchmark. Obviously it depends on Zion's health, but if Zion is healthy AND BI is All NBA, we should be a dominant team. Granted, I think there's little chance that happens, but just pointing out how good we'd be more than likely if BI gets an All NBA nod.

Probably a pretty big haul we'd get back for BI.
