Considerations for where we’d move to:
- Reasonable cost of living
- Good public schools
- Descent airport within an hours drive
- Good, reliable internet (for job)
- We enjoy the outdoors… hiking, camping, kayaking, fishing.
- Close to a year-round kids swim club
Oxford MS...
Reasonable cost of living in Oxford compared to other parts of the country. $350k will probably get you a little bit of land in the Oxford School District.
The Oxford School District is pretty good if you have kids that are going to be going off to college. Not sure how the other programs are.
Memphis airport is less then an hours drive.
Plenty of outdoor stuff to do. My family probably spend 200 days a year walking, running, or hiking the South campus (whirlpool) trails every year. Stocked pond in the center of town for the kids to fish (lake patsy). And a large lake just outside of town that offers Kayaking boating fishing etc. If you are a member of the ole miss recreation (gym) then you can rent Kayaks and canoes for the weekend for cheap.
Year round swim club that currently swims at Ole Miss Pool. City of Oxford has approved a new swim facility but it will likely take years before its completed. Swim Club and the HS swim team are closely aligned.
