It was one of those calls that makes Carr and coaches look great when it works out, and gets criticized to no end if it doesn’t.

I’m one that’s if the opinion that you try to win the game when you get the chance. If it doesn’t work and you get beat, so be it. At least you didn’t hold anything back and lose anyway for being conservative.

Absent unusual circumstances, I always of the opinion that if you have the ball with a chance to win, you take it rather than playing it safe and given the opponent another opportunity with the ball.

That could be going for 2 rather than taking the tie at then end of a game. Or, passing on 3rd down rather than running and taking a FG that even if good still leaves it a one score game.

In watching games this weekend I think you are seeing more of that mindset prevail because coaches know offenses are becoming better and better at executing scoring drives in a short amount of time.
