It's not just the commercials that fans watching on TV have to deal with. It messes up the environment in the stadium too because they all have to stand around during every break while nothing is going on. Football already had a low amount of actual game action in proportion to the length of the game before this. They just decreased the amount of action but kept the length the same, lowering it even more.

I'm not sure what the long term implications of this is going to be. I'm sure the die hards will keep watching but casual fans might get sick of it enough to stop watching. Or at the very least watch far less of it unless it's a top 5 matchup or something

Yeah about 11 minutes of actual playing time in a 60 minute game that takes 3-4 hours to complete.
