History of religion is fascinating. Best thing I found was the real name of Jesus. It was Jacob. The spelling in an ancient text was misinterpreted and then just copied through the centuries.
I've not seen this, and Google is not helping. Everything it finds is JAMES' name having been "Jacob."

I always thought Jesus' name was "Yeshua," which was a common name in that time and place.

"Yeshua" was the word that got mistranslated from the original ancient text. I saw a photo of some of those texts and they are hard as hell to read. They didn't have typewriters in those days and the elements took a toll.
Another interesting point about ancient documents is those scribes who toiled all day making copies of texts by hand made mistakes.
Even today if you gave a guy 200 pages of hand written text and told him to copy it, when he finished the new 200 pages you would find some mistakes.
Those mistakes got copied by other scribes 100 years later.
