As someone who was born and raised in Plaquemine behind the tracks, down by the dirty dirty... this is the perfect GIF when people ask me to tell them about Plaquemine.

Zekes Snoballs used to hit as a kid. The "card shop" was the best spot ever made run by a bunch of carneys. Video Visions was the best movie store in the land. Until Movie Land put them out of business.

It's hard to describe how much Movie Land blew my absolute mind as a 9 year old.

Old porn movies just sitting out in the middle of the store.

I really wish I could capture that sense of wonderment again just once in my life.

You talking about the one that was next to Fat Daddy’s by the tracks? If so, me and my friends used to spend so much time in there that the owner would let us run the shop on some weekends when he went do card shows. Paid us with packs of cards.

Growing up in Plaquemine 1980’s and 90’s was a lot of fun. A lot of memories made. Haven’t been back since my Mom’s funeral in 2016.

We saw the whole town on our bikes. Went fishing under the overpass by the locks.

Rode our bikes down the Cub Scouts track.

Played baseball and basketball at the park by the National Guard.

Played tackle football in the big open field by St John.

Everyone played spring/summer baseball for IPRD.

Butcher Boy was the grocery store to go to when it was in the middle of the neighborhood by the old school.

Acadian Festival was a lot of fun when it was by the old Sonic. We picked pecans to make “Acadian festival” money.

I could go on, but I really do cherish those days man. Now I live in Kenner not far from the Airport and it seems like everything is one big arse rush.
