For half a game

LSU looked the part for 2 quarters at least.

The national pundits have admitted LSU let the wheels fall off in the 2nd half but looked like a good squad to start the game

And maybe this is what’s bothering me so much about this whole situation. Last year we started the game slow but kept it within reach on several games, went into halftime made the adjustments came out and kicked arse the 2nd half. This time we actually go into the half with the lead and come out playing like it’s the first snap of football any of the players have ever played… I just can’t fathom how we looked so lost the 2nd half

Yep. Lots of missed opportunities. LSU controlled the first half despite the close score. They left AT LEAST two (arguably three) TDs on the table. If that's a 31 or 38-14 game at halftime, good chance FSU's spirits would've been in the toilet. But we handed them the momentum and never stopped them from scoring in the second half.

Sure would've been great to have a tuneup game (like say....Grambling?) to clean up the early mistakes before taking on a national power, but....
