Just like Missouri is doing. There congress said any recruit who commits to a instate college could receive there NIL at that moment on a monthly basis. Louisiana needs to do something like this.

But Kelly doesn’t want to get into bidding wars. We either start getting in these bidding wars or keep getting our arse rammed to teams like FSU. I choose bidding wars but that’s just me.

I'm sure you were educated in Louisiana public schools.

That’s a joke. Kinda like tipping before service is rendered

NIL is going to be the death of the LSU football program. Kelly better start wanting to get into bidding wars with elite recruits or we are going to see years to come of mediocre 3 stars and transfers from Nichols St and Southeastern.

LSU can't compete in a bidding war with Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, or USC. Those guys are on another level in terms of donor bases. Probably will have trouble keeping up with Alabama or Ohio State either.

There was once a rule where if a kid had signed grant in aid papers with your school(same as the Missouri law) that head coaches could make in home visits to that prospect outside of the recruiting calender. Les Miles took them up on that.
What Les didn't research is, the kids could also sign grant in aid with other schools because they are only binding to the school not the player. So this player had also signed paperwork with Alabama without any kind of knowledge to Les and LSU given(though with our compliance you know they knew it was possible). Fast forward a month or 2(this was in the beginnings of esd) and said kid signed with Bama. The NCAA retroactively sanctioned Les for breaking a rule that at the time he broke it wasn't being broken. Les/LSU had no recourse and future off campus visits were limited as a result.
Instead of Missouri being concerned with the NCAA they instead have to be concerned about authorizing kids be paid for paperwork that isn't binding to the kids. Meaning the kids could, by law, be paid by Missouri collectives for services never rendered and the kids are fully free to collect and then sign elsewhere. What could possibly go wrong? No thanks

Do you think LSU had the donor base to compete with Oregon, Texas, or A&M?

I’m not sure how to incentivize Louisiana kids to stay home outside of straight cash. I like the Missouri idea in principle to allow them to earn in high school if they commit in state, but other schools will just up their offers to counter that. There’s no way around this unless a law is passed that you can’t earn NIL until you are on campus or after their freshman season. The pay to sign model currently being used is not sustainable for boosters or schools long term.

Yall probably won't believe this but big time D1 athletes are already getting paid while they are being recruited (not just after they committed).

My nephew plays for a school with several 4 star players. Some of them are getting paid by TAMU.

I had heard about this earlier in the summer from a guy on YouTube that knows some kids that were getting paid by different schools that are just recruiting them.

It is really dumb that we refuse to play this game. Our talent will downgrade over time slowly and Kelly will have to take an early retirement to avoid going out a disaster. Whoever replaces him will take over the most untalented LSU roster in decades.

Florida wised up after thinking they didn’t need to buy players. When big programs get desperate enough, they open up their minds real quick.

I think the heat Kelly will feel this season will open his mind. Not winning the west and finishing outside the top 10 in recruiting will have the fanbase on his arse.

Just to be clear, we didn't get our arse rammed by FSU because of a talent disparity.

It was bad coaching and even worse execution.

FSU is more talented and experienced across the board. Name one position group other than linebacker where LSU’s talent was better.

NIL and paying HS kids is legal now

Only a matter of time before 6th 7th and 8th graders start getting NIL deals.
