Calories in < calories out

That's the key to weight loss. Bottom line

The question of course is, how do we get people to do this and then maintain something close to calorie neutrality long term?

as a member of an insurance risk pool and consumer of scarce medical resources, I’d like to see the general public lose weight and avoid metabolic disease.

Apart from a few years early in my career (before I realized I could no longer eat and drink whatever I want and stay thin), I’ve always maintained a very healthy weight. And I’m too skeptical of panacea pills to ever take that crap.

But if I had to put unfatitude on one side of the scale and epidemic obesity and bettus on the other, I don’t know how it’d shake out (bad mixed metaphor). Need more long-term data re the drug.

Maybe some mass awareness of just how shitty the SAD is combined with a short-term solution could help stave off the impending health care disaster caused by obesity and metabolic disease. But then again, if people then they can pop a pill and continue hearing fudge rounds, ho-hoes and slamming sugah watah, then they’ll do just that and the underlying problem will fester. We’ll probably find that the body eventually adapts to the drug and you end up fat, bettick, and ded.

Not necessarily. All calories do not interact with your body the same way. That's old school thought and not in touch with what is now known about certain forms of calories.
