This 1977 is just sick. An absolute beast.

I have a 2002 Sting Signature bass that I really like playing and it's a Japanese bass.

If I have to pick based off not only this vid but on having played and serviced literally thousands of MIA, MIJ, MIM, MIK, MIC and MII Fenders over the years ...

Me the player wants the MIJ every time. I will absolutely get quality wood selection, fret work, electronics, craftsmanship, the full sea of needs and wants. And my pick is without doubt or hesitation.

Do you do setups? My MIJ single pickup needs a setup bad and I don't feel like driving to Walker this time.

I love my MIM Jazz for the few times I break it out, but that '77 sounds glorious.

Agree. I have a P I bought in the early 80’s that still sounds great.

Yep, we are a full-service fretted workshop. The waiting list is pretty long right now, about eight weeks to get instruments in the door. But we turn setups in a couple days once you get inside. Reach out to me directly (Google my handle) to get on the waiting list.

Like any good bass player, I have 4. So time is not a necessity to me.

Liked the MIJ the best there. 77 sounded better than I thought it would.

Let’s do Jazz basses (the best)

Jazz bass comparison

I think the USA models win here, but can’t decide between 2000 and 2007. Probably 2007 by a hair.
