Great athletes aren’t always great football players. If Aric Gilbert was a difference maker, he’d be on the field. Especially since this is his 3rd school.
There’s no mental about it. Either a guy makes plays, or he can’t. Plenty of 5 star guys in HS end up doing nothing in college. I remember when TE Luke Ford transferred from Georgia to Illinois. Illinois fans were hyped about getting him back as he was in state kid. Turns out he just wasn’t good at football. Great athlete, all the size/speed measurables. But not a good player.
