Boat based casinos are very restrictive and limiting. There is an obvious size issue, as you can only have a set amount of casino space. They also have inferior ventilation, making them smokier and smellier. Land-based properties have much greater space and growth potential, have better ventilation and space to spread out.

Also, unknown to most people, is that the casino boats are required to be seaworthy, have a full-time maritime crew and must undergo frequent inspections by the Coast Guard. This is a huge expense to the casinos. Without this added expense, they are able to spend money on amenities, staff and other things.

So they're cutting costs while spending $85 million on a remodel.

Mississippi had "floating" casinos for years that were multiple times larger than the BR based "boats".

Your 1st paragraph repeated itself over the 4 sentences. They are smaller because the owners don't wish to spend more.
