If they are not doing per zone pricing, you are getting materials times 3, or 3.5. Lots of unforseens need to be built in: roots, cut lines, construction debris. All this slows the process. Do all the calculations you want, you still end up over $1000 per zone, unless they are stealing materials from their full time employer.

Or, hopefully you can find a reputable installer that does all the work himself. My installer has one helper, and they do everything. They are slow, but they do great work and are very reasonable. $7500 for 14 zones over a 1.25 acre lot was a great price.

Heck, he even trenched out some areas for me so I could run underground drainage pipe from my gutter to the drainage ditch free of charge.
