I did the great loop back in 2016. Good trip. We were in a 50 foot Cantius. We went clockwise which is not usual. in the Mississippi and the Illinois river, we were getting 0.8 mpg. 800-1000 bucks a day in diesel.

Hence the counter-clockwise norm.

That’s a shite ton of fuel for far too many days.

Which is probably why most people go counterclockwise or downstream
