Check out the 1987 Gator Bowl if you can find it. South Carolina was top five in offense and defense going into this game. The LSU game plan on offense was to put one receiver, Wendell Davis out on passes, and keep everyone else in to block against the SC ferocious pass rush. It worked. Davis made the CB assigned to him on each play look silly, and Hodson and Davis were the stars of the game. The game plan was brilliant, and it actually made me believe that Mike Archer would be a great coach.
