70 games between 3 seasons and only 2 goals. Yikes.
Goes to show the EPL is just a different animal. He had 39 goals in 67 appearances in the Dutch league.

I think it had more to do with Paolo Di Canio being clinically insane and Sunderland being just as volatile. Pretty much everyone for the club from 2013 through their relegation was trash for them.
If anything, it shows that just because a big 4 league club may want you, doesn't always mean it's the right move for your career. Prime Jozy was clearly talented enough to play for a mid-table EPL side, but sometimes shite happens.
