The only time you “fell for the hype” was on Heard. He might be great, and I’m glad we got him, but when you say he “would start right now for lots of teams” that’s hype.

Otherwise you are right on, and the same analysis is true of defense. We have a great and deep front seven, with very good safeties and lots of good, not great, corners plus an NFL ready Duce Chestnut.

This team is loaded and will go as far as Daniels takes them. If he is good enough LSU will be hoisting the trophy next winter.

Reports today suggest Emery Jones, who is a quality SEC starter at offensive tackle by all accounts, might be moving inside to guard to make room for Heard at right tackle.

Maybe I didn’t fall for the hype after all if Heard, as a true freshman, is beating out a quality SEC starting tackle like Emery Jones.

From all I have read, Heard is a stud even as a freshman, much like Will Campbell. I know he doesn’t lack confidence as I recall him being quoted as him expecting to beat our Will Campbell at left tackle. It’s bold talk, but not if he can back it up.
