I remember a postgame interview with Charlie Mac that night; he attempted to justify the embarrassing loss to the underdog Wave by saying, "we've just been playing them too much on the road." (due to a scheduling glitch, LSU also played at Tulane in '72, a 9-3 Tiger win). Charlie Mac's comment seemed to herald his future stay at LSU, as the Tigers proceeded to lose 12 more straight road games; the streak ended in 1977, following an equally shocking 24-21 upset loss at Indiana.
