I actually considered doing it probably about 15 years ago or so, but then I was informed that the bulk of my salary would have to be docked to pay union membership fees. I promptly withdrew my name from consideration.

Also, their vehicles were all manual transmission, which was kind of annoying to deal with while you're busy trying to multi-task by keeping your eyes on the road, and also at the same time on the list of houses to deliver to, while also looking at the houses themselves for their address numbers to deliver the parcel to. Might be a little easier to handle these days with the assistance of a GPS device that automatically tells you when to stop though...

I don't think you missed out on anything, because they clearly wouldn't hire such an idiot in the first place.

Union dues are 2.5x your hourly wage per month. That's not even within the ballpark of the "bulk of your salary"
