I've been laddering shorter term Treasury's for over a year. About 3 weeks ago Vanguard's dealers starting requiring large orders. This week every one I checked had a 1 mil$ minimum order. Are ya'll running into this at other brokerages? Thanks.

No, TDA is still at a $1000 minimum. I just looked at Schwab, and they’re also still at $1000.
You are talking about new issues, correct?

No existing bills. I'd rather buy them but I guess I'm gonna have to start using the auctions. I've been buying short JP Morgan Cd's but I'd rather buy Treasuries.

OK. In the case of existing issues, on TDA, looks like it depends on the particular issue that you’re looking at and how deep the market is. For existing bills, I’m seeing anything from $10,000 as the minimum to $1 million as the minimum. I’m seeing existing bonds and notes ranging from $1,000 to $500,000.

It's aggravating on Vanguard because you have to enter an order to see the minimum. The orders start at 1000$ but onc e you enter it you find out the real minimum.

So what’s the problem?

$100 minimum direct from Treasury through Treasury direct

I'm locked out of Treasury Direct and have been for years. My wife had to settle an estate through them and she told me to get rid of her IBonds when she got through with them. That's not an option for me.
