Worked in Yellowstone back in the 70's & back then, from mid June till mid Aug. the Park was almost a parking lot. The Park is basically a large circle & it would get bumper to bumper at some points. Old Faithful area was like Bourbon St. during Mardi Gras. Only time to go is mid May & then late Aug.

Passing through Yellowstone next month for a day on the way to the Tetons. Is there a geyser with as good or near a payoff as Old Faithful that results in a better experience due to less of a crowd? Any other must sees?

OF is just one geyser in a large area of geysers.
There are others that are nearby that are within an easy walk and they post predicted eruption times for some of them.

Castle geyser is about a 1/2 mile from the OF lodge.
