Why wasn't this a popular message 2001-2018?
Stripping people of their humanity, freedom, and individuality for submission to authoritarianism is not exactly what I would call an American ideal. It's the worst part of our old selves. The stuff we had to work to shed to become the world's greatest power since Rome.
