Planning trip to take family to the island for Mardi Gras break. Mixed reviews on the weather. Read 70s on one site and mid 80s on another. What should we expect? Fishing good that time of year? Bringing my boat.

80s seem high for early February down there. I’d think more 60s-70s. Frame of reference is Sanibel which is just a little further south.
The weather that time of year in SW Florida is absolute perfection. The gulf will be cool but swimmable. Fishing should be fine but take your boat one day with the kids to Cabbage Key and/or Boca Grande. I’d just run around all those islands on the IC.

I live in the area. January- April weather is perfection. February is sunny days, warm and cooler at night. No rain, just what beach day area made of. You may get a rare cool front like in the 60's, but its mostly upper 70's. Those temps on the beach are actually warm with the cloudless skies. You have to go to the Boca Grande Sandbar- its in between Little Gasp and Gasparilla Island along the old rail tracks.
