Most of my research has led me to either the boat Dr, Hoyt or Calen for mud motor work/upgrades, however, most of the posts on the forums are dated. I was just curious if anyone recommends one over the others and why...they all seem to have decent reviews between them. Thanks in advance

I mean, I don’t own a mud motor, but shouldn’t a lawn mower mechanic be able to fix one up?

Well I’m looking more along the lines of upgrading the motor

Delta in Morgan City hands down. Had my motor built by Calen years ago before he opened Delta, and all my work since done there.

Calen at Delta is good, and another good guy in the same area is BJ Guidry, Guidry Marine, (985) 519-3093. Both can upgrade it as much as you want.

I had the heads shaved and polished, a moderate cam installed, and had the EFI chip re-programmed to take advantage of the changes. It already had a Q muffler, which is good enough. I guess they'd call that close to a Stage 2.

Although some dispute it, the higher "upgrades" increasingly shorten the longevity of the engine and I didn't want (or need) to push it too far. I can't tell you how many cracked blocks I've seen over the past few years.

Yeah thats basically where I’m at. I guess most of the upgrades revolves around the cam, heads, carb and exhaust…and any combination of them in between. I guess it just varies a little bit between them all on who recommends what. I’ve spoken to all of them and they all seem pretty knowledgeable and willing to talk you through it
