Yeah, the number of top programs hasn't really gone down. It's just changed.
Not even every school in the SEC was worth a shite in the 90s. Now every program, except pretty much Mizzou, is a Super Regional threat somewhat regularly.

Yeah there always used to be series like Vandy, Georgia, etc during the 90s that you could realistically count on sweeping most years. Heck even Arkansas was horrible for much of the decade.
