The pioneers that largely slaughtered the vast herds American bison that once roamed the majority of the Great Plains would be to blame. Bison are know to aerate the soil with their hooves and disperse native plant seeds.

What pioneers did the bison would be unforgivable if we put them through a modern day purity test.
