Yep. Here during this part of the year, you've got to catch them about 4:30 am. We don't have skipjack here, just threadfin and gizzard.

We have blueback herring here as well as threadfin and gizzard shad...and they make up most of the catch. We have bait shops locally that sell live herring and shad but it ain't cheap and they require kid gloves or they get lethargic and die quicker than the ones caught in a net. The frsh caught bait is more productive in my opinion. Its usually healthier and friskier...they all start slowing down the minute they hit a bait tank but transporting them to a bait shop and having them in even the best bait tanks slows them down considerably.

BoJo light Its a light with a weedeater string on the bottom, seen about 5-6 on Eufala.

That would be a nightmare if someone tried to cast right next to the light and got their line tangled in the weedeater string.

I’m also in BSL off Bayou Lacroix. I put in a 30000 lumen LED Green Blob. I’ve found that if I let it go to the bottom, I cannot even tell if it’s on. So I leave it suspended about 4ft below the surface. And gar sit around it all night long.
Does the deep glow shine bright even on the bottom?

Underwater green lights

I make them. You need a metal halide bulb and ballast for the wattage. I have 4 1000 watt bulbs and a 400 and two sets of 175s. I also put down a 1000 watt sodium light. I build them for less than half the cost of a purchased set.

I would go with LED ones in fresh water, they will probably only last 6 months or so but they work are cheap and easily way to try it. Do at least 10,000 to 20, 000 lumens
