re: What's the most pressure filled situation that you have ever been in?

Standing before the city council because the president of the university didn’t want to go so he sent me. We had a building (a dorm) that they were going to shut down because we didn’t have enough parking. It was a few weeks before Christmas and if they voted to shut it down, our small university would lose 110 beds for students. As a VP, I had to convince the council to give us time and to rework the parking lot to accommodate the “parking code”.

The school did not have a good relationship with the city and I had to stand there and hear the history between the council and the school. I had to acknowledge the past but provide good will for the future.

They approved us to remain open and we had to fix the parking which the school did.
