Any Brit or Aussie trying to do a Southern or working class NY/Northeastern accent will 99% be an abomination beyond belief.
In saying that, the absolute most horrific attempt at a southern accent in recent memory is that American blonde biotch from 1883.... Who narrated entire fricking show.
It's so bad it's comical.

As for best... (and I know it's cheating) but McCoughnahey in Mud is probably the best recent representation of working class/redneck/common man South Arkansas /deep south/east Texas/North LA I can think of. LINK
Old school 1990s Billy Bob (Hearts Afire and Tombstone, etc) is also the best pure Arkansas accent ever put on film (obviously).
