Sometimes but not always. I fly the A350 and we never taxi out on one. In, yes. The airlines prefer to save gas and that’s one way of doing it.

Some aren’t, some are. I could start 2 engines at a time on the 747 using the APU. It was better than many small bizjet engines. Couldn’t use it for thrust obviously but it kicked arse!
Give this incident a few days or a week and more details will likely come out. I’ll be on off days and typically leave all things “work” at work but if I hear something I’ll try to respond.
