They will when possible to profit. Market will make sure of it. Always has, always will.
If company A can sell an item cheaper, but in more volume, this making more profit as a result, they are going to undercut company B every time. Then company B has to respond. And the big wheel keeps on spinning.
The supply and demand curve is undefeated in a free market.
