Will you when he leaves ?

I mean no doubt, there will be some people who unsubscribe when he retires, but if Messi plays out his contract through 2026 his play in the league will definitely have a lot of people staying on to follow the league after he leaves.

This is the Beckham model on a much bigger scale.

Hopefully but we have already seen how Messi fans react when he’s taken off the pitch

The access to the game is much different than it was when Becks came. It will be still hard to convince people to watch just more than Messi.

Not to mention, it's also the only realistic way MLS can build any sort of a following right now since the USMNT core is trending towards 100% euro-based, so there is no one to market as the domestic face of the league and with the way the academies are churning out talent, any talented player is going to europe after 1-3 seasons in MLS or getting bought before they even graduate out of the academy.
