Seems a little strong for this case. If I were going to run with your conspiracy theory, I would say the actual international media attention foiled their plan.
Again, I don't know what happened and Police haven't said much yet. But the whole situation is very suspicious.
I just hope it was a mental health episode and not a planned hoax.

She had takeout dinner in her car for her mom. She was on the phone with someone supposedly talking to the child then screamed. She left all of her stuff- phone, wallet, wig, car....and then where did she go? Walked into the woods and stayed there for 2 days? Was she hallucinating? I've never heard of a mental health episode like this if no previous issues. How did she get home without a phone?
Is this a medical professional you'd want treating you? Administering your meds?

I see virtually no chance this was mental health.
Why did she call police? How did she get away? Why did everything get left? Why was her car left on?
Mental health people disappear. They just go away quietly usually, they are lost and want space from reality. Mental health issues almost never call police for something like this unless it’s on themselves for potential suicide or on someone they think is hurting them. They don’t call police on some random crime that’s made up in their head to escape.
