Any updates?
The girls mom works for the same company my wife works for.
Apparently, she was on the phone with her sister in law while it all went down. SIL heard her approach the toddler and ask if they were ok, etc. Toddler never responded.
SIL thought the line went dead as she did not hear anyone talking anymore but then she could hear interstate traffic.
Everything was left behind, her phone, car, weave. Indication of a struggle.
As my wife put it, "I would have stopped" frick this world and the people in it. That's about 8-10 miles from my house, go that way all the time and so does my wife.

Was there a reason to believe this toddler ever existed?

This is not indicative of a struggle. It may also simply be a decision to leave some things behind. If she wanted to disappear and not be located, she would of course leave her phone behind. It also makes sense to know that recent appearance photos would be shared in a missing person case. Ditch the wig/weave.
