.how is modern good causing the rates of austim in the amish community to rise?
It's not, you tard. That's the point.
Due to the rising Autism rates in Non-Amish kids, a study was done on the Autism rates in Amish kids. The results were:

Results:
From September 2008 to October 2009, 1899 Amish children were screened in the two Amish communities. A total of 25 children screened positive for ASD on either the SCQ or the DSM-IV-TR checklist. A total of 14 screened positive for ASD on both screeners. Of those 25 children, 14 were evaluated and seven children were confirmed as having a diagnosis of ASD using the ADI and/or ADOS, and clinical judgment. Interestingly, four of the seven only met ASD criteria on the ADOS but not the ADI.
Preliminary data have identified the presence of ASD in the Amish community at a rate of approximately 1 in 271 children using standard ASD screening and diagnostic tools.
Compared to 1 in 91 in non-Amish kids at that same period of time.
But I understand that reading is hard. Maybe you should stick to travel ball.

1:271 for Amish is probably the more accurate rate in the general population as well.
Were the non-Amish kids screened with the same criteria? The grouping of functional Asperger’s kids as ASD along with the nonverbal kid who “stims” constantly (shakes arms/hands) is essentially the equivalent of a 60 year old diabetic with a hgb a1c of 7.5 being grouped with a type 1 diabetic 8 year old who needs insulin injections to survive.
I’m guessing the Amish ignore the socially awkward engineer types in regards to this diagnosis, while the baseline data includes them as ASD.
