Lawnmower runs but all of a sudden kills like someone just shuts the key off. Changed the ignition coils changed the spark plugs, serviced machine as well. I cut with it for about an hour and it still shuts off then have to wait to be able to start it up as it won’t start. It turns over but want start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Might be fuel problems. If you done all that with no help, look into the fuel side.

That’s what I plan on doing. I have tan the tank down quit a few times dry, but it doesn’t run like it’s starving for fuel. Will take tank out, clean it, clean carburetor and change fuel lines.

Other common problem with those is the vent on your gas cap gets clogged, and without air getting in to replace the used gas, a vacuum is created that prevents fuel from getting to the carb. Try loosening your gas cap. You say it doesn't seem like a fuel starving issue, can you elaborate

Sure, when it’s running, it doesn’t act like it does when it runs out of gas like sputtering. It’s like the key is just turned off and it stops dry. I have noticed that at times it looks like the fuel filter does not have hardly any fuel in filter. Shouldn’t it always be full of fuel? I recently changed the suction hose in the tank to a rubber fuel line instead of the plastic line that John Deere has as well.

There is a little electric solenoid on the bottom of the carb bowl labeled as an anti backfire shutoff. Make sure you hear it clicking when you turn the key on and off.
I just got done fighting my x300. Was trash in the needle for the bowl float fuel cutoff. Would let too much fuel into system and basically flood it to death. Also Kawasaki has problems with the intake manifold gaskets blowing out. While running spray starting fluid around both intake gaskets and see if engine speeds up.
My fuel filter is never full all the way. Usually only half. Hope this helps

Any help given is used and really appreciated. I thought about the fuel cap and have left cap loose all the time but issue still isn’t resolved. John Deere tech ran it today for over an hour and couldn’t find any issues. Could it be a wiring harness issue that when bouncing around a loose wire could be making it kill? Problem is that if this was the case, it would never start back up if the wiring is the problem. It’s like it’s overheated and this is why it doesn’t start up right away.

There is also a little black wire which is the kill wire. It is on the right side of my engine. Unplug it and see if it will run. If it will then the rectangular black box under your dash will need to be replaced. Will try to post a picture later.

OP I had one do that and it was something in the wiring harness. I had the same exact problem from the place I bought it from. They would send someone over from where I bought it and the mower would run like nothing was wrong. Soon as that guy would pull out of the driveway and get 2 miles down the road it would start acting up. It was a simple fix once one of their technicians figured out what was truly going on.

Had a John Deere mechanic give me a call. Told me he sees a large amount of sludge and trash at bottom of tank. Seems to think that me running it down to empty must be getting it to clog up. Will take tank down and clean it and change fuel lines, fuel filter and clean carburetor. If that doesn’t work, then it will be a new wiring harness.
