re: WTF is up with NASCAR

Following up, my personal opinion is that long game is not going to be successful for NASCAR because aside from sports car racing, the fan base for auto racing of all types in the US has always been everyman/working class more than the elites. That’s the important thing, transcending political and regional and demographic concerns. The problem now is the competitor base is all elites, a lot of folks with rich daddies who have funded their kid’s play toy since they were kindergartners in some cases. And it’s created a beast that they don’t think everyman/working class fans can adequately feed.
