What is everyone seeing on rates for new and 1-2 year old vehicles? Getting ready to start shopping and trying to get an idea. Good credit, not crappy credit

To get a baseline use the capital one preapproval option. There is no hard credit pull. I actually helped someone buy a car recently (their credit sucked and I insisted on a cheaper car... but) and capitol one came in 3% lower than the next best we could find at 12%. I wouldn't want to pay 9% on $20k but she did... I also wouldn't have bought the car she bought, but nobody in CUAC was offering a competitive rate because again her credit sucked and the dealership was trying to rape her with 18%. After I got involved they came down to 12% but I helped her get a check overnighted from Capital One with the 9% rate.

Credit union will have the best rates.

I had rates floated around 7-7.5 on a 60month term from the dealer sources. Even lightstream was 7.9. My score is over 800.

Looking at used 4Runners for my wife and CapitalOne is around 6.5% but it varies by dealer. 800+ score

I just got 3.9 percent for 60 months through Ford Credit. I was a bit surprised. 851 credit score

They even offered 0% for 36 months.

You're definitely best to go through the manufacturer in many cases right now if there's a promotional offer going on because rates elsewhere arent great at all.

Even if you get something like 3.9% or 4.9% through manufacturer offer it's probably better than alternatives you would get.

Some still even do 0-1% offers. Think Nissan was doing a bundle of 0% for 36 mo offers on some vehicles I saw recently.

0% for 36 months would shift me from a cash buyer to financing. What a steal.
