I will feel so bad for Pirates fans if the team is too cheap to take one of Skenes/Crews/Langford

My pirates buddy at work is absolutely disgusted with them at the moment knowing they aren't taking Crews

It’s not about “cheap”.
All teams have an allotted amount of money to spend based on their draft position.
In this situation, a team is looking to pay their first round pick less, in order to pay their second, third and fourth round picks more. They are still going to spend the same total amount of money.
