That’s a big deal, and he would absolutely be a legendary hero in the overall military alone, but especially in and around Miramar. Plus he goes there and teaches as well.

You think pilots training today don’t know who the Tibbets family is, or who Paul Tibbets is? Of course not. He’s a legend and will never be forgotten. I’m not saying what Maverick did is the same as Tibbets, but just making the point that it’s virtually impossible that pilots today wouldn’t know about him, regardless of how many years later.
