I read years ago that Harrah's Cherokee, about as shitty a casino as I ever set foot in (used to only be machines, may have some tables now) made about $80 on every pair of shoes that strolled through the door. Just in gambling. $80. Diverting tour buses of retirees through Cherokee is a good business model LOL.

Lots of casinos promote their slots as paying "97%" or some similar number...and people absolutely fail to realize that means for every dollar they put in the thing the best they can do is get .97 cents. Play long enough and you're going to leave more money in the place than you took in. Even skill players will eventually lose a little...because the casinos ain't in the business of losing money.

Harrahs New Orleans broke me of the habit...I used to regularly grind at black jack tables in AC and Tunica...usually could make enough to justify it...but I lost a little in New Orleans one night and simply decided it wasnt my cup of tea...

Harrah's Cherokee

Wife talked me into going into this place on the way to Biltmore for the weekend. Told her we could each gamble $100 and that was it. She headed for penny slots. I put my $100 in a 10 dollar a pull Wheel of fortune machine. On my 3rd pull I won $500, hit the cash out. Grabbed her and we left. Total time from parking to leaving was under an hour.

Had I been in Vegas, I’d have eventually given it all back after a bunch of drinks.

Instead we had a couple of decent dinners in Asheville and paid for gas with my winnings.
