Not sure what year your tractor is, but there is generally a kill solenoid on the injector pump. Many times when those small 4cyl diesel motors run hot that solenoid sticks and will do exactly what your describing. You generally just need a pipe wrench and can unthread the solenoid from the injector pump and if that's the issue it should fire right up.
