Not sure how many fireplaces their are in New York City...but there have been restrictions in Colorado that have prevented people from using wood or coal burning fireplaces on air quality action days (Denver and Boulder).

They will. Parts Europe already have.
They are trying to force people and businesses to go all electric too. They are too dumb to realize that nearly half of NY's electric power is made with gas. The efficiency of using gas for heat and hot water is about as good as it gets. Generating electric power with gas and then using electricity to heat homes and hot water is outright stupid and costs the homeowner 5 or 6 times as much.
